No. 1 Georgia Tops No. 3 Auburn, 12-8

AUBURN, Ala. --- No. 1 Georgia defeated No. 3 Auburn, 12-8, on Friday afternoon at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. The Bulldogs improve to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in Southeastern Conference action.Â

Seniors Addyson Cord (Equitation on the Flat) and Bailey Anderson (Horsemanship) earned Most Outstanding Performance honors for the Bulldogs. This is the fourth MOP honor for Anderson this season.Â

"It was an exciting day," head coach Meghan Boenig said. "Auburn riders were great competitors, as always, really keeping us on our toes. Our riders came out very well prepared with a great plan and executed. We had a lot of dominance, particularly in the Western events, which was great to see."

Georgia led off with a 4-1 victory in Horsemanship. The Tigers claimed the first point of the event before the Bulldogs won the next four. Georgia's Graysen Stroud edged Kelsey Jung, 72.5-71.5. Bailey Anderson rode to an event-high 75 to better the score of 65 from Lauren Diaz and earn MOP honors. Madison Anger and Sammie Johnson claimed the next two points for the Bulldogs with scores of 72 and 71.5, respectively.Â

Auburn edged Georgia, 3-2, in Equitation on the Flat. The Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the event, before Addyson Cord and Madison Newman both received scores of 89 to claim the final two points for the Bulldogs.Â

Georgia's Equitation Over Fences squad jumped to a 3-2 advantage over Auburn. UGA's Emma Mandarino scored an 85 to better Taylor St. Jacques' 83. Ali Tritschler defeated Gia Rinaldi, 85-55, before Maddy Darst scored an 85 over Hayley Iannotti's 20.Â

Competition concluded in Reining with the Bulldogs claiming three more points. Senior Kyndall Harper's score of 69.5 edged Alexa Rivard's 68 for the first point of the event. Sophomores Annabeth Payne and Julia Spreng each won points for the Bulldogs with scores of 65 and 66, respectively.Â

Georgia will conclude the fall portion of its schedule on Friday Nov. 17 as the team travels to face Delaware State.Â
