Clifton Comes In Sixth In Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Charlie Clifton placed sixth in the men's 1-meter springboard competition to highlight Georgia's showing on Tuesday in the Tennessee Diving Invitational at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.

Clifton, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn., rolled up 334.20 points in the finals after scoring 307.05 in the prelims. Top honors went to LSU's Juan Hernandez with 377.15 points.

Also for the Bulldogs, Ian Forlini placed 18th with 270.10 points and Walker Wheeler came in 30th with 233.70.

Allison Greene was Georgia's lone competitor in the women's 3-meter springboard event as she placed 36th with 229.15 points.

The Tennessee Diving Invitational will continue on Wednesday with men's 3-meter and women's 1-meter at 11 a.m. The event will conclude on Thursday with men's and women's platform diving at 11:30 a.m. Results can be found at DiveMeets.com.

The Georgia women's swimming team will entertain Arkansas on Thursday at 4 p.m. Admission to Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center is free.​
