Rogers Completes Second Olympic Appearance

RIO DE JANEIRO — Former Georgia gymnast Brittany Rogers made her second Olympic appearance, performing for Canada in the Rio Games. Rogers featured in Canada's vault, bars and beam lineups, receiving an all-around score of 42.515 while representing her home country.
Canada narrowly missed the team finals cutoff, finishing ninth overall with a team score of 171.761 and a margin of just 0.168 of a point short of eighth-placed Netherlands. The top eight teams advanced to the team finals.
"We couldn't be more proud of Brittany and her performance in her second Olympics," said Georgia head coach Danna Durante. "In qualifying for two Olympic Games, with an incredibly successful college career in the middle, Brittany has accomplished something that most other gymnasts can only dream of. She showed the determination that made her an elite level athlete. Her ability to juggle class work and her collegiate career while still holding on to a place on Canada's team is really amazing. As a program we are delighted to have had Brittany in our family for the last four years and we are privileged to have been able to be a part of her journey back to the Olympic Games."
Rogers and the Canadian team started on beam, with the former Gymdog competing in the anchor position and drawing a 13.466 in her opening event. Rogers received a 5.4 difficulty score paired with an 8.066 execution tally.
After a rotation off, Rogers featured second in Canada's vault lineup, posting a very strong 14.783 in one of her strongest events. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native averaged a 5.9 difficulty score and an 8.883 execution score. Her mark on vault was the ninth-best among all competitors.
In the final rotation, Rogers anchored Canada's bars lineup. The 2016 NCAA bars champion performed well, earning a 14.266 with a difficulty score of 6.3 and a 7.966 on the execution.
Rogers' all-around score of 42.515 was good for third on the Canadian team.
