STILLWATER, Okla. --The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team could not overcome a balanced Oklahoma State scoring effort on Saturday in a 71-51 loss at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
Playing as part of the 2016 SEC/Big 12 Challenge, OSU (7-0) built an early lead and the the Lady Bulldogs (5-3) could not claw back down the stretch. Caliya Robinson led Georgia with 16 points, recording her 11th-consecutive double-figure scoring game. Kaylee Jenson paced OSU with a double-double of 20 points and 17 rebounds.
The Cowgirls outrebounded Georgia, 46-27, and outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 30-22, in the paint to tally their 54th-straight non-conference home win -- a total that is second nationally to Georgia's 60 consecutive home victories against non-conference opponents.
"There's a reason why they are second in the NCAA in home non-conference wins," head coach Joni Taylor said. "They are a very good team at home, and we have to be better than this to win a game on the road. We are growing every game, but again the foul trouble killed us early on and really put us behind."
Georgia dug itself into an early hole thanks to hot shooting from the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State hit three of its first four 3-pointers and converted on a three-point play to take an early 16-8 advantage in the first quarter.
The Cowgirls finished the opening frame with a 53-percent shooting clip from the field, including a 5-for-8 mark from 3-point range to take a 25-12 lead going into the second quarter.
Oklahoma State did cool down to just 36-percent shooting by halftime, but it was not enough as the Cowgirls built a 38-20 halftime lead.
Jensen opened the third quarter with six points and the Lady Bulldogs did not score until the 7:21 mark of the period as OSU continued to extend its lead, eventually taking the victory, 71-51.
Georgia now returns home to host Furman on Monday at 7 p.m. ET inside Stegeman Coliseum.
