ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia gymnastics team took home four top individual scores, but it wasn't enough as the Gymdogs fell to Stanford, 195.875-195.750, on Monday afternoon in Stegeman Coliseum in front of a sellout crowd of 10,224.

The ninth-ranked Gymdogs dropped to 1-2 on the year (1-0 SEC), while No. 24 Stanford improved to 4-1. Despite the loss, Georgia turned in season-high event scores on vault, bars and floor.

"I think that we started out just the way that we wanted to," senior Gymdog Brandie Jay said. "We were all fired up to be back at home. Arkansas and Michigan were great for us but there is nothing like Stegeman Coliseum. We came out fired up and we told them to really attack everything that they did and that is what they did. We did awesome."

Georgia opened the afternoon with a 49.500 on vault, the top score in the nation entering Monday's competitions. Gigi Marino posted a career-high 9.9, while both Jay and Brittany Rogers tied their career high with a 9.975 and 9.95, respectively. After Stanford's 49.025 on bars, Georgia led going into the second rotation.

Rogers led the way on bars with a season-high 9.925 en route to Georgia's 49.350 on the event. Jay posted a 9.9, while Rachel Schick added a season-high 9.875. At the halfway mark, Georgia led 98.850-97.875.

Ashlyn Broussard and Vivi Babalis led the Gymdogs on beam, turning in a pair of 9.8s. After the third rotation, the Gymdogs trailed Stanford, 146.675-146.450.

On floor, Georgia scored a season-high 49.300. Mary Beth Box and Marino posted 9.9s, followed by a career-high 9.85 from Sydney Snead. In the end, Stanford notched a 49.200 on beam.

"We had a great opportunity to show our resilience and come back," Georgia head coach Danna Durante said. "For them to have a season high on floor, vault and bars was a great thing. There were so many things that improved from Michigan to Arkansas to today, so those are the things we will be taking away from it. Obviously, we will need to make some adjustments on beam."

The Gymdogs will travel to Missouri to face the Tigers on Friday night. The meet is slated to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
