Richt's Bulldogs Versus Alabama
During the Mark Richt era, the Bulldogs are 3-2 against the Crimson Tide, winning in 2002 (27-25 in Tuscaloosa), 2003 (37-23 in Athens) and 2007 (26-23 in Tuscaloosa in OT) and falling in 2008 (41-30 in Athens) and 2012 (32-28 in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta).

Offense Churning Along
Georgia ranks second in the SEC averaging 45.5 points per game. Alabama is fourth in the SEC in Scoring Defense at 17.5 points per game and the Crimson Tide blanked Louisiana at Monroe 34-0 last Saturday. The Bulldogs cruised to a 48-6 win over Southern University last week in Athens.

Georgia is 2-0 in the SEC and that included scoring 31 points and racking up 422 total yards to win at Vanderbilt and tallying 52 points and compiling 576 total yards in the victory over South Carolina.

Bulldog Rushing Attack Setting The Tone
Georgia's ability to run the football has helped it to a 4-0 start and will be in for its toughest test to date going up against Alabama's Rushing Defense, which leads the SEC and ranks fourth nationally allowing 56.8 yards per game. The Bulldogs rank second in the SEC in Rushing Offense at 257.8 ypg.

Sophomore Nick Chubb, one of the nation's top running backs, ranks fifth nationally with 599 yards on 71 carries (8.4 average) and six rushing touchdowns this season. Chubb leads all active FBS players with a career average of 126.2 yards per game. He also leads the nation with 12 consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing. Georgia's rushing attack is bolstered by the fact that four offensive line starters returned from the 2014 unit - seniors John Theus (LT), Kolton Houston (RT), junior Greg Pyke (RG) and junior Brandon Kublanow (C, LG in 2014). Sophomore Isaiah Wynn has joined the crew at LG this season.

National Recognition

Junior quarterback Greyson Lambert has been named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Performer of the Week, the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week and one of the Manning Award Stars of the Week following his performance in the 52-20 win over South Carolina. Lambert went 24-for-25 (a school, SEC and NCAA record 96 percent) for a career-high 330 yards and three touchdowns, which matched his career high. He completed 20 passes in a row to end the contest, which topped a Bulldog record of 19 set by Mike Bobo at the 1998 Outback Bowl. Lambert connected with nine different receivers in his third game with Georgia after transferring from Virginia.

Senior receiver Malcolm Mitchell was also recently named to the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Mitchell, a 6-1, 195-pound native of Valdosta, Ga., was one of 11 players from the NCAA FBS selected based on their commitment to community service. He was one of three Southeastern Conference players on the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. Georgia leads the nation in Allstate AFCA Good Works team honorees with 16 (10 in the Mark Richt era) since the award's inception in 1992.

Uga IX, The Mascot

Current Record: 47-19

The University of Georgia will introduce its newest mascot, Uga X, at a yet-to-be announced date during this season. The new mascot will be succeeding Uga IX, affectionately known as "Russ," who recently turned 11 years old. "We look forward to celebrating the reign of Russ who has served the University and our sports program in magnificent fashion," said UGA President Jere W. Morehead. "He has truly endeared himself to fans all over the country. At the same time we anxiously await the arrival of the newest in our long-standing line of mascots, Uga X."

The half-brother of Uga VII, Russ has compiled an overall record of 47-19. He served as an interim Bulldog mascot for a total of 25 games (16-9). He worked nine games during the 2009 and 2010 seasons after Uga VII and VIII passed away. Russ roamed the sidelines at all 14 games during the 2011 season. He then served for two wins at the beginning of the 2012 season before being promoted as Uga IX prior to the Florida Atlantic game on Sept. 15, 2012.

His time as mascot has included the 2011 and 2012 SEC Eastern Division championships, three road wins at Georgia Tech and a victory over Texas A&M in the 2009 Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La. He completed 2012 with a 12-2 record and a win over Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl. In 2013, he finished with an 8-5 record before the Bulldogs completed the 2014 season with a 10-3 mark, capped by a victory over 20th-ranked Louisville in the Belk Bowl.
