Robinson, Montenegro Hold On To Beat Belarus In EuroBasket

DEBRECEN, Hungary --- Former Georgia Lady Bulldog Angel Robinson and Montenegro held on to beat Belarus 77-72 in the second round of the EuroBasket Championships on Friday.

In 33 minutes of play, Robinson scored 15 points, including 3-of-4 from the free throw line,and grabbed 17 rebounds. To date, Robinson is averaging team highs of 12.0 points and 8.7 rebounds per game as well as 0.8 blocked shots throughout the tournament. She is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and 75.0 percent from the free throw line.

With 10 lead changes and Belarus only trailing for a total of three minutes throughout the game, Montenegro was able to force turnovers and execute late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Montenegro improves to 4-2 in the tournament and will play Greece on Sunday with hopes of securing its berthin the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals are slated to begin on June 24.

Robinson, a native of Marietta who became a naturalized citizen of Montenegro earlier this year, was an All-SEC performer for the Lady Bulldogs in 2009. She finished her career ranked No. 25 among UGA's career scoring leaders, as well as No. 4 in blocked shots and No. 5 in rebounds.
