ATHENS, Ga.--Three different Lady Bulldogs scored in double-digits as Georgia (2-1) cruised to a 78-66 victory against rival Georgia Tech (3-1) Sunday afternoon in Stegeman Coliseum.

UGA is now 34-4 all-time against the Yellow Jackets and a perfect 15-0 in games played in Athens. Merritt Hempe led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Tiaria Griffin added 21 points of her own and Marjorie Butler scored a career-high 18 points in the win.

"My message to those seniors was that you have a chance to walk out of here today and say that Georgia Tech never beat you," head coach Joni Taylor said after the game. "Just like our seniors last year did. That's special and that's important and you could tell by how they played that they took that to heart."

The Lady Bulldogs nearly hit the half-century mark in the first half, taking a 48-30 lead into the break. Marjorie Butler drilled a three-point basket as time expired in the half. Georgia finished the first half shooting 50-perecent from the field while holding the Yellow Jackets to just 36.4-percent from the field.

Georgia kept its foot on the gas in the second-half pushing its lead to 61-48 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Bulldogs made a point of finding Hempe in the paint as the senior scored six points in the quarter. UGA's defense caused Georgia Tech issues again holding the Yellow Jackets to just 36.8-percent shooting in the third quarter.

The fourth quarter was filled with more winning plays by the Bulldogs. Georgia ripped down several offensive rebounds and got to the free throw line numerous times late in to contest. UGA once again made it a point to get the ball in the paint and it showed as Hempe dropped eight more points in the quarter.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday hosting Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. ET. in Stegeman Coliseum. The game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network+.
