Kazor Continues To Develop Artistic Side

By Preston Smith

Kendall Kazor came to Athens as a top recruit following an accomplished high school volleyball career and in just her second year has already settled in as Georgia's full-time setter.

But while playing volleyball at the Division-I level on the Bulldogs' squad takes up most of her time, Kazor also takes pride in her academic success. Kazor is attempting to co-major in both marketing and international business while continuing her off-court passion with a minor in graphic design.

"I've always loved art," said Kazor, who competed in several art competitions throughout grade school and recently had multiple pieces featured at the fall show. "I have always been a big fan of the analytic and creative balance. I didn't want to let that part of me go in college so I decided to minor in graphic design since it went hand in hand with my marketing major."

Georgia's accomplished business and art schools - along with its vision for the volleyball program - helped make the decision to come to the university easy for the Texas native.

"With Georgia, it stuck out early when I was comparing who has the best balance of academics, athletics and just the overall college experience," said Kazor, who cited her dream job as an international marketing consultant for nonprofits. "Georgia was always one of the top schools in every category and its vision for the program and the idea of being part of a group that builds a program's status was really appealing to me."

The sophomore from Dallas, played for both Ursuline Academy and the renowned Texas Advantage Volleyball Club (TAV) in high school. Kazor would lead TAV to multiple No. 1 overall rankings along with the AAU National Championship in 2011 and the USAV Junior Olympics in 2013.

While the Bulldogs are still searching for their first SEC victory, Kazor believes the future is bright for the young team.

"I love the resolve of this team," Kazor said. "We have dealt with some injuries and are still trying to grow as a team, but the stronger we get through this adversity now will help us down the road."

As the season progresses, Kazor continues to do her part for the Georgia volleyball team. As the starting setter, she naturally leads the team with 529 assists, but she has also developed into a strong defensive player in contributing 40 total blocks thus far.

The Georgia volleyball team will return to action on Sunday when they take on Florida at 1:30 at the Ramsey Center.
