Magill Society Seeing Returns
October 01, 2015 | General
While the Magill Society and the Georgia Excellence Campaign are still in the early phases, Georgia is already seeing returns.
"We are extremely proud of how our donors have heeded our call to join the Magill Society in support of our Georgia Excellence campaign and the construction of our Indoor Athletics Facility," Associate Athletics Director for Development Mónica Lebrón said. "We currently have 40 members in our inaugural year and are excited to see how the Magill Society will continue to grow and strengthen UGA Athletics. For those that have stepped up, we cannot thank you enough."
After the UGA Athletic Board approved the proposal for a $30 million Indoor Athletic Facility, Georgia legend Fran Tarkenton became the first football letterman to commit to the cause.
"With all that I see going on in Athens, I believe the University and our football program are poised for greatness, which is why I am pleased to be the first letterman to commit a major gift for athletics," said Tarkenton. "I encourage my fellow lettermen to step up and help us bring about this much needed facility."
The Magill Society, named after legendary tennis coach, sports information director and executive secretary of The Georgia Bulldog Club and Dan Magill will recognize those who make philanthropic commitments of $25,000 and above to Georgia Athletics. As part of the launch of the Magill Society, The Georgia Bulldog Club is offering a priority point incentive. Any pledges made before February 15, 2016 will receive 1.5 points for every dollar donated (or pledges $25,000-$99,999) and two points for pledges of $100,000 and above.
The new Indoor Athletic Facility, which will add nearly 109,000 square feet of space, is the first component and centerpiece in the upgrades and improvements to Georgia athletic facilities.
