UGA Earns High Marks On And Off The Field
November 26, 2014 | General
ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia has spent the duration of the 2014 college football season ranked in the top-25, but recently UGA entered the top-25 in another important category: overall university student retention rate.
In a recent study published by the higher education research and consulting company Eduventures, Georgia was one of only six institutions in the nation to rank in the top 25 in both categories – with retention rate defined as the percentage of a school’s first-time, first-year undergraduates who continue at that school the following year.
In order to determine the retention rate top-25 poll, Eduventures compared each institution’s actual retention rate with a statistically predicted metric to estimate how it should perform based on academic, social, environmental, and financial indicators.
Georgia – coming in at No. 9 in the “retention rankings,” joined only Florida State, Ohio State, Texas A&M, USC, and UCLA as members of both polls.
