Berry Invite - Women's Results
ROME, Ga. --- The Georgia women's cross country team finished second at the Berry Invitational in Rome, Ga., on Saturday morning.
The Lady Bulldogs had four finishers in the top 10 and scored 36 points to finish behind Florida A&M (31). This 6K marked the fourth regular season meet weekend for Georgia and the final action before the postseason.
Junior Ann Centner led Georgia for the first time in her career with a fifth-place finish thanks to a time of 22:22.60. Senior Greer Gafford finished two spots behind Centner in seventh after running a 22:43.80. The Lady Bulldogs' third finisher was redshirt freshman Kate Northrop, who took eighth (22:57.60) out of the 194 competitors.
True freshman Sara Dort was the final Georgia runner to finish in the top 10. The Henderson, Nev., native clocked a 23:11.30 for 10th-place honors. Fellow first-year freshman Lauren Hovis rounded out the scorers for the Lady Bulldogs with a 22nd-place finish (23:49.10).
On the men's side, two Bulldogs competed and finished in the top 13 of the 185-man field. Freshman Eric Westog ran an 8K time of 26:24.70 to finish seven overall. Fellow freshman Ryan Brock managed a 13th-place finish after clocking a 26:37.80.
Many of Georgia's other team members competed at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 17.
The Southeastern Conference Championships arrive next for Georgia and the rest of the league in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 31.
