Cromie, Garber Pace Bulldogs At The Farm

ROCKY FACE, Ga. --- Seniors Michael Cromie and Joey Garber combined for a 7-under-par total on Saturday as the Georgia men's golf team drew closer to the top of the standings in the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate.

Cromie fired a 4-under 68 and Garber signed for a 3-under 69 as the Bulldogs posted a 6-under 282 in the second round. Georgia entered the day 11 shots behind Georgia Tech, but shaved the deficit to just four heading into Sunday's final round.

The Bulldogs also counted an even-par 72 from freshman Greyson Sigg and a 1-over par from junior Nicholas Reach. Sophomore Lee McCoy finished with a 2-over 74. Playing as an individual, junior Sam Straka fired a 2-under 70.

Cromie and Garber are in third place individually at 4-under 140, six strokes behind Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans. McCoy is 20th at 2-over 146, followed by Sigg at 4-over 148 and Reach at 9-over 153. Straka is 14th at 1-over 145.

The final round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate will be held Sunday. Three-hole scoring can be found at golfstat.com. The Bulldogs will tee off at 9:40 a.m.
