ATHENS-----After wrapping up the first week of fall semester classes, the Georgia football team held a 90-minute practice in full pads Friday as the Bulldogs continue to close in on the season opener against Clemson.

"I thought we had a really good practice today," head coach Mark Richt said. "It was a little bit shortened today because we are going to have a quick turnaround tomorrow morning before Picture Day. I liked the energy of the day."

Following practice, Richt singled out the play of true freshman linebacker Leonard Floyd through the first two weeks of preseason practice.

"He just practices so hard and is relentless," Richt said. "His head is still spinning while he's learning, but he has really impressed me with how hard he practices on a daily basis. He is going to get better and better because of it. He has been standing out to me for a while."

Richt said the Bulldogs will continue with fundamental work in Saturday's practice before breaking into scout teams next week.

"We have to hone in on who is really going to play and begin to implement the game plan," Richt said. "We're about ready for that."

After Saturday's practice, the Bulldogs will take part in the annual Fans Picture Day in the Reed Plaza area of Sanford Stadium.

Georgia football players will be on hand for photos and autographs from 3-5 p.m. between Gates 2 and 4. Richt will also be available from 3-5 p.m. for those with ticket coupons, and Georgia's other athletic teams will be on hand for Picture Day from 1-3 p.m.

The Bulldogs open their 2013 schedule on Aug. 31 when they travel to face eighth-ranked Clemson at 8 p.m. The contest, which is 2013's only season-opening top-10 matchup, will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
