ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's Jasmine Hassell was named SEC Player of the Week by the league office in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday after averaging 20.0 points in the Lady Bulldogs' previous two victories over No. 18 South Carolina and Alabama.

Hassell, a 6-2, senior from Lebanon, Tenn., scored 21 points against Alabama in Tuscaloosa last Thursday, the highest offensive output in SEC play of her collegiate career. She then scored 19 versus South Carolina, accounting for 45 percent of the Lady Bulldogs' total points in a 42-40 victory.

For the week, Hassell connected on 68.2 percent of her shots from the floor and 83.3 percent of her trips to the line.

During the Alabama game, Hassell ascended from No. 30 to No. 27 among the Lady Bulldogs' career scoring leaders, passing Pam Irwin-Osbolt, Carla Green and Cynthia Collins. She played against South Carolina with a protective mask after suffering a nasal fracture during the Alabama game.

Hassell is the 23rd different Lady Bulldog to win SEC Player of the Week honors since the award's inception in 1985. Those players have combined to secure 44 SEC Player of the Week accolades.

The Lady Bulldogs are 15-2 overall and 3-1 in SEC play and remained No. 13 in this week's Associated Press poll released Monday. Georgia will travel to Arkansas to face the Razorbacks on Thursday evening before returning to host Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.
