ATHENS-----The sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs continued preseason preparations with a two-hour workout Thursday in jerseys, shoulder pads and shorts.
Afterwards, Bulldog assistant coaches met with the media and provided an update on Georgia's preseason camp. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo commented on a pair of freshmen running backs in Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall.
"Todd and Keith are practicing well; I'm pleased with their progress from last week to this week," said Bobo. "Todd had two physical runs in the last scrimmage and was the beneficiary of one long run where we caught the defense off guard. It's good to see them blocking well too including picking up the blitz."
Meanwhile, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham said they are evaluating players every day whether it's a practice or scrimmage.
"The purpose of the scrimmage is like a preseason game, we've got to see what the players can do," said Grantham. "We have to put them in position to make plays and figure out who can do it. The older guys have responded well in the scrimmages, and the younger guys have shown ability too and just need to be more consistent. We scrimmage, then watch the film and make corrections, there's a lot of teaching. We learn what we have to improve on and then go do it."
The annual Fans Picture Day will be held this Saturday in the Reed Plaza area of Sanford Stadium. Georgia football players will be on hand for photos and autographs from 3-5 p.m. between Gates 2 and 4. Bulldog football coach Mark Richt will also be available from 3-5 p.m. for those with ticket coupons. Also, Georgia's other athletic teams will be on hand for Picture Day from 1-3 p.m.
Georgia will play host to Buffalo in the season opener Sept. 1 at 12:21 p.m., and the game will be televised live by the SEC Network.
