Reid, Great Britain Earn First Olympic Win in Volleyball

LONDON - Former Georgia volleyball player Elizabeth Reid and the Great Britain women's volleyball team won their first-ever Olympic match with a 3-2 over Algeria on Monday afternoon in the second preliminary match.
Algeria jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over Great Britain with a 25-22 win in the first set. Great Britain, led by Lynne Beattie, battled back to take the second set 25-19. With the Algeria leading two sets to one, Great Britain won the fourth set 25-19 to tie the match at two. In a 16-minute deciding set, Great Britain sealed the match with a convincing 15-8 win.
Reid did not see any action in the thrilling 3-2 win. Reid and Great Britain will take on Italy in its third preliminary round match on August 1 at 11:45 a.m.
