Bulldogs Hold at No. 9/10 in National Polls

ATHENS, Ga.—After moving its season mark to 29-7 and its conference record to 8-4, the University of Georgia softball team ranked No. 9 in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and No. 10 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball polls released Tuesday.
California remained as the No. 1 ranking in the USA Today/NFCA poll with Alabama behind at the second spot. Texas takes the third slot followed by Washington at No. 4 and Oklahoma at No. 5.
California also claims the No. 1 spot in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll while Alabama falls to No. 2. Texas follows at No. 3 as Washington and Florida round out the top five.
Georgia went 2-2 last week that included wins over Georgia Southern and Florida. Freshman Paige Wilson led the team with four hits in the four-game span while senior Kristyn Sandberg put up three hits and a team-high four RBI, including two in the Bulldogs' 3-2 win over the Gators.
Senior Erin Arevalo earned the two wins for the Bulldogs after pitching complete games in both. The California native posted 10 strikeouts in a two-hit shutout against Georgia Southern on Wednesday before knocking down eight batters in game one versus Florida.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday, April 4 in a doubleheader at No. 9 Tennessee starting at 5 p.m. The games will be featured on CSS.
