ATHENS, Ga. ---Vanderbilt's John Jenkins scored 28 helping Vanderbilt (19-8, 8-4) secure a 61-52 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs (12-14, 3-9) Sunday afternoon at Stegeman Colisum.
Vanderbilt's Jeffery Taylor also contributed 13 points for the Commodores.
Senior guard Gerald Robinson Jr., led Georgia with 19 points and sophomore forward Marcus Thornton led the Bulldogs on the boards with seven rebounds.
"We certainly did not shoot the ball well tonight," said head coach Mark Fox. "I really think the key to this game was the rate of completion. They were able to convert on their shots and we weren't. That was the difference."
In the first half, both teams traded the lead, but Georgia clung to a one-point advantage heading to the locker room at halftime, mostly credited to shooting nearly 50 percent from the field.
Georgia garnered a five-point lead with 13:38 remaining in the game, but the Commodores went on a 24-6 run, building a 13-point lead, its largest of the game.
Vanderbilt's Jenkins scored 16 of his 28 points in the second half, including four three-pointers.
"He is the greatest shooter that I have ever coached against," Fox said. "He's the kind of player that you just cannot make any mistakes against or he'll make you pay."
Georgia would cut the lead to as little as seven, but it wasn't enough to overcome shooting just 29 percent from the field, including six percent from behind the three-point arc, in the second half.
The loss marks just the third time in the last 12 seasons that a team has swept the season series. Earlier this season, Vanderbilt beat Georgia 77-66 in Nashville.
The Georgia men's basketball team will next travel to Baton Rouge to take on LSU on Wednesday. The matchup is scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m. and will be televised on the SEC Network.
