Georgia Equestrian Ranked Third

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia equestrian team is ranked third in the nation, according to the latest Women’s Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll released on Wednesday. The Bulldogs, who are 8-1 on the year, are coming off a X-X win over South Carolina.
Georgia will travel to top-ranked Auburn this weekend. The Tigers continue their streak at the top, followed by Texas A&M, which went 1-1 since the last poll was released.
The Baylor Bears maintain their fourth place sport, followed by South Carolina, which moved up two spots to No. 5.
Oklahoma State falls from fifth to sixth, while Kansas State dropped to seventh.
SMU jumped two spots this week up to No. 8, as the Mustangs are coming off a 6-4 Hunt Seat win against Texas A&M.
New Mexico State holds steady at No. 9, but TCU falls from eighth to join the Aggies in a tie for ninth spot. Tennessee-Martin maintains its spot at No. 10.
The collegiate coaches competing under the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s umbrella initiated the national poll.
The poll will be released bi-monthly with the next announcement scheduled for Feb. 29, 2012.
