ROSEMONT, Ill. - Former University of Georgia softball player Megan Wiggins has agreed to a two-year deal that will keep her in a Chicago Bandits uniform through the 2013 season

"Megan is going to be a special player in this league," said Bandits GM Aaron M. Moore. "She reminds me of Kristen Zaleski with the way she plays and the skills she has out there. We are fortunate to have her in a Bandits uniform for the next two seasons."

Selected in the 2nd round of the 2011 NPF Senior Draft with the 8th overall selection out of Georgia, Wiggins spent her rookie season in left field.

She finished the 2011 season with a .264 batting average, including 34 hits, eight home runs and 22 RBIs. Her regular season accomplishments earned her a spot on the All-NPF team.

During the NPF playoffs, Wiggins continued to produce for the Bandits and was key to the team's championship series win. Wiggins hit .357 in the postseason with four extra base hits and five runs batted in.

"Playing with the Chicago Bandits was an amazing experience last season and I absolutely love the atmosphere and girls I get to play with," said Wiggins. "I plan on playing with Chicago until I have a ring on every finger."

During her time at Georgia, Wiggins was a three-time All-SEC First Team selection (2008, 2010, 2011). In just her freshman year, she led the Bulldogs in batting average, at-bats, runs, hits, triples, RBIs, total bases and slugging percentage. During the 2010 season, she set the single-season school record for outfield assists with 11, and in 2011 she set another single-season school record this time for doubles with 23.

Wiggins will play this spring in Japan.
