Boykin Breaks Out: Senior CB Brandon Boykin got his first career play on offense for the Bulldogs midway through the first quarter and took a handoff 80 yards for a TD to give UGA a 7-0 edge. This is the first defensive player to score on offense since CB Branden Smith had a 52-yard touchdown run versus Tennessee Tech in 2009. Boykin's touchdown is the longest rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs since Richard Samuel had an 80-yard touchdown run against Arkansas in 2009.

This is Boykin's fifth career touchdown. He has four kickoff returns for scores in his career, including three 100-yard returns. Boykin set a school record for career return yardage now with 1,923, all on kickoffs (77 total). Tonight, he had five for 110 yards. He passed Scott Woerner's 1,916 who tallied his on punt and kickoff returns from 1977-80.

Long-Distance Connection: Aaron Murray hit junior TE Orson Charles for a 36-yard score with 1:19 remaining in the third quarter. Charles led the Bulldogs with 6 catches for a career-high 109 yards. Murray then connected with freshman WR Malcolm Mitchell for a 51-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Mitchell completed his first game with 3 grabs for 64 yards and one rush for 20 yds.

First Pick Of 2011: Junior CB Brandon Smith had the Bulldogs' first interception of the year at the 5:32 mark in the second period. However, the Broncos got the ball back with a pick and took a 14-7 lead with 48 seconds left in the half.

Season Openers: With tonight's defeat to #5 Boise State, the Bulldogs are now 89-26-3 in season openers including 9-2 under Mark Richt. The only other season-opening defeat in the Richt era came to #9 Oklahoma State 24-10 in Stillwater in 2009. Also, Georgia is now 7-9 all-time in domed stadiums including 4-4 in the Georgia Dome. Georgia drops to 41-7 against non-conference teams under Richt.

Starters: The Bulldogs had five first-time starters. On offense, WR Marlon Brown, OG Chris Burnette and WR Malcolm Mitchell lined up during the first play of the game. Mitchell was not in the game on the first snap, but the original first down play was called back after a false start penalty.
