NORCROSS, Ga. --- University of Georgia senior All-American Wil Spencer was eliminated from the singles qualifying draw of the Atlanta Tennis Championships Sunday afternoon, falling 6-4, 7-5 to Olivier Sajous of Haiti.
Sajous is a former University of Texas standout and has played for the Haitian Davis Cup team since age 16.
Spencer won his first round qualifier yesterday, defeating Australia's Nick Lindahl to reach today's second round. Spencer would have needed to win three in the qualifier to reach the main draw of the ATP World Tour event at the Racquet Club of the South in Norcross.
The Bulldogs remain alive in the tournament as 2011 graduate Drake Bernstein will play as a wildcard in the doubles main draw with Georgia Tech's Kevin King. The duo is slated to play the overall No. 1 seed - the American pair of Scott Lipsky and Rajeev Ram.
Two-time SEC Player of the Year and four-time All-American John Isner will receive a first round bye as the No. 3 seed in singles. Isner will then team up with James Blake in doubles, with the pair set to face the No. 2-seeded team of Marcelo Melo and Jamie Murray.
The first rounds will be played Monday and Tuesday in Norcross. Match times have not yet been announced.
