ATHENS-----University of Georgia junior outfielder Johnathan Taylor will be featured on the Major League Baseball show "This Week In Baseball" on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT on FOX.
Currently, Taylor is in the "Day Program" at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta where he continues to recover from a serious neck injury that bruised his spinal cord as a result of an outfield collision with teammate Zach Cone during a game against Florida State on March 6. Both players were selected by the Texas Rangers in last month's Major League Baseball draft.
Taylor, a 5-8, 181-pound native of Acworth, Ga., was a 33rd round pick of the Rangers. He plans to return to Georgia in the Fall. Cone, a first round pick who was the 37th overall selection in the draft, signed a professional contract on June 18. He now plays for the Rangers short-season Class A affiliate in Spokane, Washington. Cone, a native of Stone Mountain, Ga., ranks among the league leaders in batting. He is hitting .359 (14-for-39) through his first nine professional games.
"This Week in Baseball" (TWIB) is one of the longest-running sports series on television. The show has been around since 1977. It airs prior to the start of the FOX Saturday Baseball telecast. TWIB also airs during the week on MLB Network. This Saturday's featured games on FOX will be the New York Yankees at New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox at the Chicago Cubs.
