NCAA Track Facing 2nd Weather Delay

DES MOINES, Iowa --- The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships have been delayed because of thunderstorms in the Des Moines, Iowa, area for the second time on Thursday.
The decathlon's javelin competition, which is the ninth of 10 events, along with the women's high jump finals and the men's long jump finals were stopped in mid-competition at 9:15 p.m. ET. Bulldog junior Michael Ayers was in third place in the decathlon entering into the javelin.
Thunderstorms, mixed with hail and excessive lightning, started during the middle of the night on Wednesday and continued until the early afternoon on Thursday in Des Moines. More storms quickly blew in on Thursday night after 8 p.m. and event officials made the weather delay announcement shortly afterwards.
