ATHENS ----- University of Georgia Equestrian coach Meghan Boenig announced Monday the signing of Paige Stawicki, an accomplished and highly decorated specialist in Western Horsemanship, to a national letter-of-intent to attend Georgia and ride next year for the Bulldogs.
Stawicki is currently a senior at Argyle High School in her hometown of Argyle, Texas, about a half-hour's drive north of Fort Worth. Among the many honors that she has accumulated in her riding career include: Winner of American Paint Horse Association Youth World Championships in Showmanship, Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, and multiple Congress Championships. She is currently in the top group for the year-end All-Around youth point standings. Last June, Stawicki successfully competed for Team USA at the 2010 Youth World Games
"We are very honored and thrilled to have Paige join the Georgia Equestrian program," said UGA Western assistant coach Mary Meneely. "She is a bright, professional and hard-working young lady. She's an outstanding, top-notch competitor who has a wealth of riding experience and will be a valuable asset to our team."
Stawicki is the fourth high school senior to sign with the Bulldogs during the spring signing period. She joins Hunt Seat specialist Hannah Spiegler of Mechanicsville, Va., Morgan Justiss of Alpharetta and jumper Megan Southam of Langley, British Columbia.
