ATHENS, Ga. --- Assistant coach La'Keshia Frett Meredith, a two-time All-America and four-time All-SEC player for the Georgia Lady Bulldogs in the mid-90s, will transition to be the program's Director of Basketball Operations, head coach Andy Landers announced on Thursday.

Frett Meredith has served as an assistant coach for the Lady Bulldogs for the past six seasons after retiring from a successful professional playing career in the WNBA and overseas.

"I was a little surprised at first when La'Keshia indicated her interest in the Director of Operations position," Landers said. "However, I'm always impressed by people who want to expand their knowledge of the inner workings of college athletics. That is precisely what La'Keshia is striving to do. It's understating the obvious that it's a tremendous relief to me that La'Keshia will be assuming this role. She has been an asset to our program for a long time, and we're fortunate to have someone with Keshia's qualifications and broad understanding of our operations in that position. She has the skills and abilities to perform as our director of operations at a very high level."

As Director of Operations, she will coordinate team travel, scheduling and apparel, assist with Lady Bulldog Basketball Camps and serve as liaison with the Fastbreak Club, the program's booster organization.

"I'm very excited and thankful for the opportunity to broaden my experience while still remaining a part of a basketball program that means a great deal to me," Frett Meredith said. "I think this position will be a good learning experience and strengthen my professional skills at a different level."

Frett will assume the role previously held by Heather LaBarbera, who was recently promoted to Director of Student Services for the UGA Athletic Association. LaBarbera spent 11 seasons with the Lady Bulldogs, serving as a student manager for two seasons and as an administrative assistant for one year before moving into the operations position.

"Heather has been an integral part of our program for more than a decade," Landers said. "While everyone will definitely miss working with her on a daily basis, I'm pleased that Heather will remain within our Athletic Association and advance her career in a way that she's excited about."
