ATHENS, Ga. --- The 2011 edition of the Georgia soccer team defeated its alumni counterparts Saturday morning by a 4-2 score at the UGA Soccer Stadium as part of the Bulldogs' annual Alumni Weekend festivities.

The current Bulldogs opened the day's scoring with a header goal for rising junior Susannah Dennis off a cross from the left corner from Holly Tomlinson - whose older sister Megan laced up for the alumni side. The goal came under eight minutes in and gave Georgia the early 1-0 lead.

It moved to 2-0 when the younger Tomlinson sent one over the head of keeper Michelle Betos from the right, coming off a dish from Ashley Miller with 29:00 remaining in the first half.

New program alum Marah Falle had perhaps the best chance of the first half for the alumni, sending a close-range shot in at keeper Ashley Baker, who came up with the point-blank save with just around five minutes remaining in the opening period as the first half ended with the Bulldogs up 2-0.

Megan Tomlinson put the alums on the board with a goal early on in the second half, but Georgia responded to take a 3-1 lead when rising sophomore Meghan Gibbons took a pass from classmate Carli Shultis and sent it into the back of the net with around 16 minutes to go in the contest.

All-American Carrie Patterson cut the deficit to 3-2 when she curled a direct kick opportunity inside the far post with 5:10 remaining, but rising senior Jamie Pollock brought it back to a two-goal difference as she sent a beautiful header into the bottom of the goal off a perfectly-placed corner kick off the foot of Gibbons with just over two minutes remaining. That's where it stayed as the 2011 Bulldogs downed the alums by that 4-2 final on a warm and sunny day in Athens.

Georgia ended with 18 shots to 11 for the alumni, while Betos came up with eight saves for the former players while Baker and Caitlin Woody combined for four.

The Alumni Weekend kicked off yesterday with the Golf 4 Kicks fundraiser at the UGA Golf Course.

The Bulldogs conclude their spring schedule next weekend when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to take on a pair of ACC opponents in Wake Forest and NC State next Saturday, April 16.
