ATHENS, Ga. --- Employees of the University of Georgia Athletic Association are volunteering throughout the Athens community Monday during its annual Staff Appreciation Day.
Staff Appreciation Day is a volunteer effort by the entire athletic association staff, which will be volunteering at several organizations and schools in the community throughout the day. Coaches Mark Richt and Mark Fox will be reading to students at J.J. Harris Elementary Charter School.
"The mission of Staff Appreciation Day is for the athletic association to give back to the community," said Robert Miles, Director of CHAMPS/Life Skills. "So we have many varied opportunities, which are ways for us to infuse ourselves into nonprofits and places in the community."
This year's effort is the fourth Staff Appreciation Day organized by the UGA Athletic Association. Coincidently, it coincides with National Volunteer Week, which is April 10-16, 2011.
