ATHENS ----- Riding a 3-match winning streak, the Georgia Equestrian team will continue its preparation for the looming postseason by traveling to Delaware State for a Saturday morning meet. Competition against the Hornets begins at 10:00 a.m.

Second-ranked Georgia is coming off a weekend in which it dominated its competition in hosting the Bulldog Invitational tournament. The Bulldogs defeated New Mexico State on the first day of the meet, 15-1, before shutting out Tennessee-Martin 14-0 in the winner's bracket.

Georgia will be looking to build upon the momentum started not just at the Bulldog Invitational but also three weeks ago in a comeback win over SEC rival Auburn. Their three wins have pushed the Bulldogs upward in the bi-weekly coaches poll, all the way into the No. 2 slot behind Texas A&M.

"All in all, I think we are starting to come together and last weekend was the best example of that process yet," Georgia coach Meghan Boenig said. "These next two weeks will be very good tests. Delaware State is a vastly improved team this year and they always put on a good meet. We will need to be focused in order for us to come out of there with a victory."

Indeed, the Hornets have scored a surprising victory over nationally-ranked South Carolina last month in Waco, Texas. Their 6-2 Hunt Seat victory provided the necessary cushion to post a 10-6 overall win.

The DSU meet is the first of two consecutive road competitions for the Bulldogs. Georgia takes on Texas Christian the following weekend in Fort Worth. Such heavy traveling has proved beneficial to previous Georgia teams as they have prepared for post-season meets at the Southern EQ Championships and the Varsity National Championships.
