GREENBORO, Ga. --- The 13th-ranked Georgia men's golf team finished third in the Linger Linger Invitational, which ended on Tuesday at Great Waters Golf Club.

The Bulldogs fired a 2-under 286 on Tuesday to wind up at 2-over 866. Team honors went to Alabama at 18-under 846, while Chattanooga came in second at even-par 864.

"We got better every day, and that's what coaches always look for," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "I like the way our team stayed focused and battled. We are continuing to get ready for the championship run, and I know our team is going to be right in the thick of things."

Senior Hudson Swafford paced the Bulldogs with a 3-under 69 to wind up fourth at 5-under 211, eight shots behind Alabama's Cory Whitsett.

Senior Harris English closed with an even-par 72 for a three-day total of 2-under 214 and a seventh-place finish. Senior Russell Henley shot his second straight 1-under and wound up at 4-over 220, followed by freshman Michael Cromie (74, 224) and sophomore T.J. Mitchell (75, 229).

Playing as individuals, Rob Bennett closed at 1-under 71 for a 4-over 220, followed by sophomore Scott McAlpine (75, 226) and freshman Keith Mitchell (79, 229).

The Bulldogs will return to action April 15-17 in the SEC Championship in St. Simons Island. Georgia is the two-time defending league champion.
