ATHENS ----- The second-ranked Georgia Equestrian team wraps up its regular season this weekend with a dual meet against No. 6 Texas Christian in Fort Worth. Competition at the October Hill Farm in Hudson Oaks, Texas, on Saturday begins at 9:00 a.m. (Central Time).
Bulldog riders bring a 4-match winning streak and a 10-2 overall dual-match record into Saturday's showdown with the Horned Frogs. TCU, meanwhile, carries a 6-3 overall record that includes home wins over Auburn and Fresno State.
"We're looking forward to the competition with TCU," said Georgia coach Meghan Boenig. "It should be another good test for our riders on the road, having to adjust to different horses, different surroundings. We've had some great battles with TCU in the past, particularly on the Western side. I'm confident that we will respond to the challenge and perform really well."
Georgia and TCU have hosted each other twice before, most recently in 2009, with each claiming close victories on home turf. Their Western teams have clashed in each of the past two Varsity National Championships. In 2009, the Horned Frogs advanced by edging Georgia in a second-round tie-breaker. Last year the Bulldog riders returned the favor by also taking a tie-breaker. The victory was vital to Georgia's taking a third straight overall team championship.
