RIO GRANDE, P.R. --- Anchored by a third-place individual finish by junior Marta Silva Zamora, the No. 10-ranked Georgia women's golf team finished fifth in the team field at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, which concluded on Tuesday.

Silva Zamora carded a 2-under 70 in the final round to pace the Bulldogs to a 9-over 297 team score. Overall, Silva Zamora finished the 54-hole event at 2-under 214, while the Bulldogs were 43-over as a team.

"Obviously, Marta had a good tournament," head coach Kelley Hester said. "She birdied her last hole to give herself a chance to win the tournament. It didn't turn out that way, but she still played well."

Silva Zamora mixed three birdies with one bogey on Tuesday. She teed off from No. 4 with a shotgun start and slipped to 1-over after a bogey at No. 7. Silva Zamora notched birdies at No. 15 and No. 17 and then another at No. 3.

The Bulldogs also counted a pair of 1-over 73 from Emilie Burger and Abby Johnson and an 81 from Amelia Hill. Georgia dropped Tess Fordham's 82, while Milena Savich, who competed as an individual, shot 80.

"I'm really pleased with the way Emilie came back strong, and I'm very encouraged by Abby's play," Hester said. "She played very solid and that's very important because we need someone to step up and contribute and it looks like she might be the one to do just that."

Top-ranked Alabama swept the team and individual titles. Stephanie Meadow captured medalist honors after finishing at 4-under 212. The Crimson Tide earned a five-shot win over runner-up Iowa State, 875-880.

Rounding out the top-10 teams were Florida State (891), No. 6 Purdue (896), the Bulldogs (907), No. 23 Kent State and Northwestern (916), TCU (919), No. 17 Oklahoma (920) and Oregon (922).

For Georgia, Johnson tied for 29th at 229, Burger tied for 38th at 231, Hill tied for 59th at 236, Fordham tied for 79th at 240 and Savich tied for 84th at 241.

Georgia opened the tournament with a 308 and cut that to a 302 in the second round before trimming five more shots from that tally on Tuesday.

"We played better each day, but we're still not where we need to be," Hester said. "Before we came down here I said I'd be disappointed if we finished outside the top three. With the way with played, I'm not disappointed with fifth."

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend when they compete in the Kiderlou Forest Challenge in Valdosta on Feb. 27-March 1.
