ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 24-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (5-2, 4-1 SEC) practiced in shoulder pads, shorts and soaking conditions for just over an hour on Tuesday afternoon in Athens. The session was originally scheduled to last about 25 minutes longer but was cut short by a constant, heavy rain.
Georgia returned to practice for the first time since last Saturday's win at Vanderbilt. The Bulldogs took Monday off and will enjoy an open date this Saturday before facing Florida (4-3, 2-3 SEC) next Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla.
Georgia conducted its warm-up "flex" on its grass fields before the Bulldogs' moved to their FieldTurf surfaces for the remainder of the workout.
"It was really more like a Monday," head coach Mark Richt said. "We got most of our work in."
"We were able to get some substitution and communications things we wanted and needed to work on done. The only thing we didn't get to do was go against the defense," offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said. "It was so wet out there. The balls were soaked and heavy. I picked one up and it felt like they weighed 10 pounds. It was good to get some snaps in those conditions, but throwing and catching in that is not something you want to do too much of."
The Bulldogs and Gators will face off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, on CBS.
