ATHENS, Ga. --- The 11th-ranked University of Georgia men's tennis team is set to host one leg of the 2011 ITA Kickoff at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens this Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-30.
The Bulldogs are hosting one of the 15 national sections for the third straight year. In all, 60 teams - four at each site - are competing this weekend for a place in the National Team Indoors Feb. 18-21 in Seattle, Wash.
Georgia will first take on No. 55 Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2 p.m. before facing either Georgia Tech or North Carolina. The Bulldogs' Sunday match will be at 2 p.m. regardless of win or loss Saturday.
Live scoring will be available for all four matches on Georgiadogs.com. Additonally, the Georgia Men's Tennis live chat will be hosted for the UGA matches each day, and can be accessed on the men's tennis homepage by clicking on the link on the right titled "Live Tennis Match Chats."
"This is a tremendous quality regional," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "We're really excited about hosting and there's obviously going to be some outstanding competition. I think whichever two teams are playing in the Round of 32 on Sunday would possibly have had the chance to be in the final eight or final four teams - that's the quality of this second round. There's a lot of pressure and a lot at stake. It will be fun for our guys."
