Rockwell to offer Nutrition Consultation to UGA Athletics

ATHENS, Ga. -- As part of a plan to enhance the nutrition and nutritional education program for student-athletes at the University of Georgia, nationally known nutrition expert Michelle Rockwell will be consulting with UGA coaches, student-athletes and administrators Jan. 24 and Jan. 25.
Rockwell, a registered dietitian who specializes in sports dietetics and nutrition, has consulted for several athletic departments around the country and serves as a nutrition consultant to many professional teams nationwide. Co-Founder of RK Team Nutrition, her passion lies in educating students and healthcare professionals on how to enhance their performance and health status through nutritional education.
"Sports nutrition is critical to athletic performance and our athletes need the proper fuel to compete at the highest level," said Ron Courson, Director of Sports Medicine for UGA Athletics. "It is important to bring someone in from the outside who can offer us different viewpoints as far as what we are doing now and where to go from here. Michelle is a nationally renowned nutritionist who can help us improve our overall program and give our student-athletes everything they need to succeed."
Over the two-day period, Rockwell will be involved in various focus groups with team nutritionists, strength and conditioning staff, University Food Services as well as student-athletes and coaches. She will also tour the facilities including the dining commons and the university health center.
