CINCINNATI, OHIO-----The sister duo of Chelsey and Carla Gullickson advanced to the quarterfinals of the Western & Southern Financial Group Open here Wednesday after winning another match in a tiebreaker.

Chelsey, a rising junior at the University of Georgia, is playing as an amateur in this Sony Ericsson WTA Tour event with her older sister Carly who is a professional. They eliminated Julie Coin and Lucie Hradecka 6-2,4-6,10-5. On Monday, they upset the sixth seeded duo of Alisa Kleybanova and Ekaterina Makarova 3-6,6-1,10-8.

Up next, they face the ultra-successful tandem of Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs Thursday night at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. They are the No. 4 seeds with 32 career titles, winning them between 1996 and 2005. After four and a half years off, they have reunited this year and have already claimed one WTA Tour title this season.

The Raymond-Stubbs team had a first round bye and breezed past Natalie Grandin and Abigail Spears in 57 minutes to move into the quarterfinals. They lost serve twice but picked up five breaks to cruise to a 6-3,6-2 win.

Gullickson is playing in a few tour events this year as an amateur before returning to Georgia for her junior year. She captured the 2010 NCAA singles title and has earned All-America honors in singles and doubles the past two seasons. Meanwhile, Carly, 23, has won two doubles titles on the tour, and one Grand Slam – winning the mixed doubles with Travis Parrot at the 2009 US Open.

The Tennis Channel is televising four hours of tournament action Thursday starting at 5 p.m.
