Georgia Practice Cut Short by Rain

April 08, 2010 | Football

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia football team held its 13th spring practice on Thursday at the Woodruff practice fields. The team almost completed a full practice before being halted by thunder and lightning.

Head coach Mark Richt was happy with the "energy and enthusiasm" of practice and encouraged by how far the defense has come.

"The defense is gaining more confidence in what they are doing and everything is starting to solidify," Richt said. "Mistakes being made are happening less and less."

Richt said he is excited about G-Day since it will be in front of the fans. He wants to encourage all of the fans to come out to the game and bring canned foods for the food bank.

"The weather is going to beautiful and we would really like the fans to come out and enjoy the game," Richt said. "Last year we broke a record for the amount of food that was donated at one single event so it would be nice to break that record again."

The game will kickoff at 2 p.m. at Sanford Stadium and it will be televised live on CSS. At noon, former football letter winners will be playing in a flag football game. The gates will open at 11:30 a.m.
