Bulldogs Experience 'Hottest' Practice Of Spring

ATHENS, Ga. --- With temperatures in the mid 80s, the University of Georgia football team held a two-hour workout Thursday afternoon at the Woodruff Practice Fields for the 10th time this spring.
Under sunny skies and a high near 86, Thursday marked the hottest practice the Bulldogs have had to endure so far this spring.
"Today was the hottest day by far," said head coach Mark Richt. "We shortened the practice by about 20 minutes for a few reasons. One was the weather. The other was that I wanted to make sure we had a high tempo practice and that we are fresh for our next scrimmage. Saturday will really be the last scrimmage where we can do all the things we want to do schematically before presenting them to the public."
Richt also praised the significant decrease in off-season injuries compared to recent years. "We haven't had many guys out this spring which has been great," said Richt. He also expressed excitement on getting those injured players back on the playing field.
Georgia also hosted its annual faculty and staff appreciation day with more than 80 University of Georgia faculty members and guests in attendance. Players had permission to invite their professors and other staff members to attend Thursday's practice.
The Bulldogs will scrimmage again at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, April 3. Georgia wraps up its spring practices with the annual G-Day game on Saturday, April 10 at 2 p.m. The game will be free admission, and will be televised live by CSS.
