Georgia Golfers Stand Sixth In Puerto Rico

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico --- The Georgia men’s golf team, led by junior All-American Harris English, stands tied for sixth after one round of the Puerto Rico Classic.
Playing the River Course at the Rio Mar Club on Sunday, the Bulldogs opened the 2010 portion of their schedule by shooting a 2-under-par 286. Oklahoma State has the team lead at 13-under 275.
English paced the Bulldogs with a 3-under 69 and is tied for sixth in the individual race. Oklahoma State’s Kevin Tway carded a 7-under 65 to take the first-round lead.
T.J. Mitchell followed English with a 1-under 71, while Bryden Macpherson made his Georgia debut with an even-par 72 and Brian Carter shot a 2-over 74. Wills Smith had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 5-over 77.
The Puerto Rico Classic will continue on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday.
