
Getting To Know Sadio Doumbia

ATHENS, Ga. --- With final exams just around the corner, the Bulldogs are making big plans for the winter holidays. Junior Sadio Doumbia has rather big plans for himself.
"I am going back home for Christmas in France, and for Thanksgiving I am going to my former coach's house in Montgomery, Ala," he said.
Doumbia, a 2010 addition to the men's tennis team, began his career at Auburn University Montgomery where he finished his sophomore season ranked No. 6 nationally in the NAIA ranks.
Georgiadogs.com recently set down with Doumbia to get to know a little more about one of the newest editions to Georgia Tennis.
Georgiadogs.com: Why did you choose to transfer to UGA?
Sadio Doumbia: I had planned to go to college two years ago, and I was suppose to go to Virginia or VCU, but I wasn't eligible so I went to a small school in the NAIA (Auburn University, Montgomery), and then I transferred here last year.
GD: What is it like coming from France to play at UGA?
SD: Everything is different, but I like UGA, I like the way we practice, and I like the States.
GD: What are two words that describe you on the court?
SD: Fight and French
GD: What are two words that describe you off the court?
SD: Fun and French
GD: Do you have any hobbies?
SD: Playing tennis, studying, and hanging out with friends
GD: What is your favorite movie?
SD: Black Diamond
GD: What are your favorite TV shows?
SD: French Shows
GD: Who is your favorite professional sports team?
SD: French Team (Soccer)
GD: What is your favorite part about being a student athlete?
SD: Being able to compete and play good matches in a good atmosphere, but at the same time being able to study go to school and know that I will get a degree at the end.
GD: What are you looking forward to the most this season?
SD: Looking forward to winning the NCAA, try to win everything
GD: What are your goals for this season?
SD: Finish undefeated in singles and in doubles.
Following the winter holidays the Bulldogs will return to action in January at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic in Palm Springs, California.
