Erin Duddy Becomes First EQ Signee

ATHENS ----- The 5-time national champion Georgia Equestrian team enjoyed a busy early signing period. Head coach Meghan Boenig on Monday announced that Erin Duddy, a decorated Western reiner from Montague, N.J., has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend UGA and compete next season for the Bulldogs.
Most recently, Duddy spent last summer as a member of the U.S.A. East team which took home a silver medal in Reining at the 2010 North American Junior & Young Rider Championships in Lexington, Ky. This is an event at which Duddy brought home a silver media in Individual Reining in 2009. Other honors include a clean sweep of all non-pro division classes at the 2010 Carolina Classic; and first places in all non-pro divisions, all three days, at the National Reining Horse Association Derby for 2010.
"We are very excited to have Erin join us in the fall, Georgia Western assistant coach Mary Meneely said. "She comes to Georgia with a wealth of riding experience in multiple disciplines. She has a great ability to ride different horses and that should help her make a smooth transition to varsity equestrian."
Duddy is currently a senior at Pope John XXIII High School in nearby Sparta, N.J.
