Smith Represents UGA In Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia Cheerleader Erica Smith has advanced to the semi-finals of the Athlon Sports 2010 Sideline Spirit Contest.
Georgia may not have won the border bash with University of Florida on the field, but they beat them in the polls. Smith beat out her competition representing the University of Florida in the fourth round of the Athlon Sports 2010 Sideline Spirit Contest.
Smith, a senior from Covington, Ga., has been a member of the UGA cheerleading squad all four years of her college career. She is a captain of the 2010-2011 squad and participates in various community service projects.
She also won Sports Illustrated Cheerleader of the Week award in March 2010.
Winning a total of 54 percent in the voting that lasted Oct. 21 to Nov. 1, Smith moves on to the semi-final round. Voting for the semi-final round will be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6.
This is the eighth year of the Athlon Sports Sideline Spirit Contest national search for the university with the most school spirit and one that has shown to be one of the most popular programs on the Athlon Sports web site. According to Ben O'Brien, Spirit Coordinator for the University of Georgia, Smith is a great representative of Georgia in the contest. Said O'Brien, "Erica signifies what we are looking for in an ambassador for not only the UGA spirit program, but the University as a whole."
