Georgia-Idaho State
The Bulldogs welcome Idaho State to Sanford Stadium for their first-ever visit to Athens. Georgia has never faced any of the nine teams that are in the Big Sky Conference, including the Bengals. ISU is the third non-conference opponent on the Bulldogs' schedule this season. Georgia is 1-1 thus far after topping Louisiana 55-7 in the season opener and falling to Colorado 29-27 in Boulder on Oct. 2. The Bulldogs will conclude the regular season with their annual matchup with the ACC's Georgia Tech in Athens on Nov. 27.
Georgia closes out the SEC regular season at No. 3 Auburn in two weeks.
Keep An Eye On These Bengals
Tavoy Moore, a 5-7, 195-pound junior from Long Beach, Calif., broke his own school record for all-purpose yards in a game after tallying 323 against No. 12 Montana on Oct. 9. He became only the third player in Idaho State history to return a kickoff for 100-yards, and he also scampered 84 yards for a touchdown on a punt return later in the contest. He ranks among the NCAA FCS leaders in punt return average (20.2) and all-purpose yards (192.0).
Moore is the first Big Sky football player in conference history to return a kickoff and punt return for touchdowns in two different games. Along with the Montana game, he did it against Northern Colorado. Moore previously set the school record for all-purpose yards with 318 at Northern Colorado earlier in the year. He is in his first season at ISU after playing two years at Cerritos College.
Junior linebacker A.J. Storms, who has tallied 99 tackles in the first eight contests, ranks among the national leaders in tackles per game. He is averaging 12.4 tackles, which ranks third in NCAA FCS.
SEC KOR Leader Boykin On Pace To Set School Record
With 22 kickoff return yards against Idaho State, junior CB Brandon Boykin will set a Georgia record for KOR yardage in a career. Boykin stands at 1,616 yards on 60 returns thanks in part to an SEC-record three 100-yard returns in his career. In addition to five tackles and the first sack of his career versus the Gators, Boykin piled up 111 return yards. His performance was highlighted by a 51-yard return in the fourth quarter that set up the Bulldogs' final touchdown and helped send the game to overtime. Boykin along with Vanderbilt's Warren Norman (1,608 on 62 ret.) are just outside the top 10 in the SEC record book for KOR yards.
In 2009, Boykin set the school record for kickoff return yardage in a season with 988 yards on 38 returns. In 2010, Boykin has 22 returns totaling 630 yards (28.6 yds/ret.) and is leading the SEC with an average of 28.6 yards per return. More about Boykin's kickoff returns on pg. 5.
KICKOFF RETURN YARDS: UGA CAREER
1. 1,637 - Gene Washington (1973-76, 71 ret.)
2. 1,616 - Brandon Boykin (2008-curr., 60 ret.)
Green Continues To Be A Threat Through The Air
A.J. Green made his 2010 debut versus the Buffaloes and picked up just where he had left off in 2009. Green had the fifth 100-yard receiving game of his career after hauling in seven catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns. In addition, he had a 40-yard end-around that set up an acrobatic one-handed catch in the end zone for the Bulldogs' first score of the game (Green's catch was No. 1 on ESPN's Top-10 List following the game). With 19 career touchdown catches, Green is tied for third in UGA history. He trails only Terrence Edwards (30) and Fred Gibson (20) and is tied with Brice Hunter. Green was suspended the first four games of 2010 by the NCAA.
