Howard Blog: A Clean Sweep

January 08, 2010 | Men's Basketball

Voice of the Bulldogs Scott Howard gives his thoughts on the state of the men's basketball program.

A clean sweep for the Bulldogs this season over Georgia Tech. The Dogs won in football, women's basketball and, most recently, men's basketball. Georgia completed its trifecta the other night with a rousing victory by Coach Mark Fox's Bulldogs as they knocked off the 20th ranked team in the nation. Georgia extended its home winning streak over Tech and has not lost to the Yellow Jackets in Stegeman since 1976.

Just over 6,000 fans witnessed the game live in Athens. That number doesn't knock your socks off, but a vocal crowd it was. The energy generated by that 6,000 plus was certainly a factor in the win. The task now is to try and get another 4,000 out for Georgia Basketball and fill up that place. The more the team wins, the more fans will want to come and watch them play.

And that's what the Dogs need… fans that come to Stegeman Coliseum to watch THEM play, not the opponent. The 6,000 plus who came out and cheered for the Bulldogs last Tuesday are the kind of fans this program is after. They just need more of them. Check your schedule and circle the dates for the remaining home games. There are 8 of them over the next two months, 5 on Saturday and 3 on Wednesday nights. Hope to see you there.
