Sports Nutrition Vision Statement:
Who: The Sports Nutrition Office is set up to provide nutrition guidance to all UGA athletes. Ruth Taylor, the Sports Nutritionist and a registered dietitian, is available for individual nutrition consults and team nutrition talks.
What: The Sports Nutrition Office presents team nutrition talks and also offers individual nutrition counseling for any personal nutrition concerns (i.e. weight loss, weight gain, hydration, maximizing energy, avoiding GI distress during competition, etc.).
Why: Adequate nutrition promotes peak athletic performance. Collegiate athletes have special nutrition needs. In addition, they must balance intense practice and competition schedules with classes, social events, meal times, etc. Athletes may find it difficult to fit healthy eating into their daily routine, and may not understand all the different nutrition and supplement fads and information.
Where: The Sports Nutrition Office is located at 244 Stegeman Coliseum.
Contact: Call the Sports Nutrition Office to set up an appointment. (Your trainer is an excellent resource and can also help with setting up a nutrition appointment.) Ruth Taylor, MS, RD/LD. 542-6891 rtaylor@sports.uga.edu
