Caprioglio, Hill To Receive Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia swimmer Lisa Caprioglio and tennis player Alex Hill have been chosen as the 2009 recipients of the Joel Eaves Scholar-Athlete Award. 

This award is given annually to the male and female student-athletes entering their senior year with the highest grade point average in the athletic program.

Caprioglio, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., is an International Business major with a 4.0 GPA. She was a member of the NCAA-winning 200-yard medley relay, and she clocked the second-fastest 100-yard butterfly time in school history last season. She was named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for swimming last season, and she previously was chosen as a College Swimming Coaches Association Academic All-American. Caprioglio also has been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

Hill, a native of Atlanta, is majoring in Finance with a 3.62 GPA. Last season, Hill helped the Bulldogs achieve a national ranking of No. 6, win the SEC Eastern Division, appear in the National Team Indoors as finalists and advance to NCAA Elite Eight. He was a member of Georgia’s back-to-back national championship teams in 2007 and 2008. Also, in 2008-09, Hill competed in the Southern Intercollegiates, the Bulldog Scramble and the SEC Coaches Indoor events. Last season, Hill earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Caprioglio and Hill will be presented their awards during pregame ceremonies on Sept. 12 when Georgia hosts South Carolina in Sanford Stadium.
