Injury Ends Career Of TE Ros

August 25, 2009 | Football

ATHENS, Ga. --- A chronic foot condition resulting from a high school injury has ended the career of redshirt freshman tight end Bryce Ros.

Ros suffers from chronic degenerative changes in the big toe joint of his right foot which makes it difficult to handle the demands of intercollegiate football according to UGA Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson.

Ros, a graduate of Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, suffered the initial injury as a junior in high school.  Despite corrective surgery at that time, he has continued to have symptoms that prevent full participation in football.

"It's a very unfortunate condition," said UGA head coach Mark Richt.  "We have petitioned for an NCAA medical exemption that will allow him to remain on scholarship."
