Stewart, Grant Excel at Collegiate Reining Championships

University of Georgia riders Kate Stewart and Nichole Grant completed their Bulldog careers in outstanding fashion last weekend when they competed at the National Collegiate Reining Championship in Oklahoma City.
The Collegiate Reining championship brings together the top 12 performers from the Varsity National meet, as well as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association nationals. It is held in conjunction with the National Reining Horse Association Derby Finals.
Stewart finished in a fourth-place tie while Grant, competing in her first-ever National Collegiate championship, finished seventh. Stewart, in her third time at the Nationals, scored a 212.00 while riding Guns Chiquita Chex, owned by Jessicah Torpey of Princeton, Ky. Grant, meanwhile, posted a score of 211.00 while riding Colonels Smokin Bueno, owned by Bill Bradley of Mt. Sterling, Ky.
"I can't say enough about the way that Kate and Nichole represented Georgia and our program," said Assistant Coach Logan Fiorentino, who accompanied the pair to Oklahoma City. "The group of competitors was the best of the best, the top reiners in the country. It was a great way to cap off their careers."
Georgia was the only program to have two competitors in the 12-rider field.
