April 29. 2003 - Former Georgia running back Kent Lawrence was one of the Class of 2003 inductees for the SBC Cotton Bowl Hall of Fame. As a sophomore tailback, Lawrence led the Bulldogs to the 1966 Cotton Bowl title with a 24-9 win over SMU. Lawrence had 16 carries for 149 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown run on the contest's third play. Joining Lawrence in the induction class were quarterback Joe Theismann of Notre Dame, quarterback Eagle Day of Ole Miss, fullback Steve Worster of Texas, halfback Kyle Rote of SMU, Coach Charles McClendon of LSU and Cotton Bowl Athletic Association Chairman Robert Cullum.
April 29, 2006 - Katrina McClain Johnson is enshrined in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. McClain was a two-time All-American and the 1987 National Player of the Year during her stellar career as a Lady Bulldog. She was also a three-time U.S. Olympian and starter on teams which won gold medals at the 1988 and 1996 Games.
April 29, 2009- Georgia’s Courtney Kupets, the winningest gymnast in NCAA history, has been named the recipient of the 2009 Honda Sports Award as the nation’s top collegiate gymnast.
